I used to read tons of scripts when I was an assistant in hollywood. And I can tell you, if a script didn't get to me by page TWO it was headed to the recycle bin.

Less glamorous than it sounds I've heard. What was it that would het to you?  Concept?  Scene?  Dialogue?  Good character names?

Usually just writing style (including both dialog and directions), and originality.  Later into the script, it would always be character for me.  The Sixth Sense was an absolutely brilliantly written script, as was Stranger Than Fiction (much better than the movie turned out - I think it was horribly miscast.  They should have cast someone younger and more hapless instead of Will Ferrell).
